Amorphous Carved Walnut Sculpture by Frank Flynn
A rather radical work for Flynn, who favors perfectly manuicured forms. The sculpture is composed of a pair of walnut slabs, joined by a thick resinous glue, which is overcoated and applied in an decorative fashion. In this example, Flynn allows nature to determine the overall structure, while respectfully smoothing and carving to accentuate the form. Mounted on a heavy steel base, easily supporting its bulk.
