An Early Honeycomb Construction by Mary Bauermeister 1959

German artist Mary Bauermiester is best known for her illusionist optical glass sculptures and stone assemblages. This is a very early work, which displays her tradmark obsessiveness. A plaster or resin honeycomb formation is achieved by repeated layering, building walls just as a bee would. Great relief effect highlighting the incredible overall texture. The backside retains exhibition tags with notes by Bauermeister.
