Stone Spiral by Mary Bauermeister (1934- )
As a fine example of Mary Bauermeister´s obsessive sculptural works, the Stone Spiral is created by application of pebbles graudally growing bigger from the center outward. A darling of the art world in the 1960´s, Bauermeister immersed herself in the artistic circles of Pop Art, Nouveau Realisme and Fluxus, and maintained friendship with Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns and Niki de Saint Phalle.
