Stoneware Monkey by Knud Kyhn for Royal Copenhagen

One of the most productive and talented artists of Royal Copenhagen Knud Kyhn studied at the Artistic Study School and in the atelier of Karl Schroder in LillerOd. In 1903 he joined Royal Copenhagen where his unique technique and subject centered in animal figures. The figurine of monkey attests his sculptural skill to depict the lively energy of the animal as well as his signature glaze composed of layers of brown and green.
