Oval Progression A Sculptural Assemblage by Mary Bauermeister

A large example of Bauermeister´s work with assembled sea stones. Rows of smooth stones, beginning with near microscopic specimens, increasing in size and number of layers continuing upwards. From the right, where the stones are rather light and bleached, continuing left they shift towards deeper earthy colors. Signed to the rear. Mary Bauermeister (b.1936) works are found in the permanent collections of The Whitney, MOMA, The Gugenheim, The Brooklyn Museum, and many important private collections. 23" square
