SUN V A Large Copper and Steel Sculpture by Claire Falkenstein

A large and early work by Falkenstein, utilizing her signature technique of brutalizing a variety of metal materials. The interior is formed by a crushed and twisted copper sheet, overlayed with a dense web of welded steel wire. The wire surface is further partially coated in rough cut copper forms, resembling a forest bed of leaves. The metal has heavily patinated in its 50+ years and the entire form has a dark organic feel. 24" H 40" L 20" D
