ORION. A Bronze Hollow Gong

Part of a suite of sculpture created for the opening of the Grieg Concert Hall in Bergen, Norway 1976. Orion is a massive gong, created by the joining of two planes with a bowed hollow core. The surface is a kaleidoscopic world of patinated earth tones. A single mallet blow spurs an eruption of rolling thunder with an immense sustain and resonance. 120" H 36" W 3" D.
